*I've been playing crystal singing bowls for over seven years. With a degree in Music and years of experience teaching breathwork and nervous system regulation, I've become fascinated by the way breath and sound work together to support deep rest and relaxation.

While research is still emerging, studies have found that sound meditation using sound bowls can help reduce tension, anxiety and low mood, while increasing feelings of wellbeing and relaxation. The soothing vibrations and sustained tones may encourage the brain to settle into slower brainwave patterns associated with meditation, helping the body shift away from "fight or flight" and towards a calmer, more restorative state.

For centuries, sound has also been used in many traditions to support healing and balance. Some practices work with the body's energy centres, often referred to as chakras, using different tones and frequencies as a focus for meditation and self-awareness. Whether you connect with the science, the tradition, or simply the experience itself, sound has a remarkable ability to quiet the mind and invite stillness.

When combined with intentional breathing and meditation, this creates an opportunity to soften the body, settle the nervous system and experience a level of rest that many of us rarely allow ourselves in our busy lives.

For me, playing the bowls isn't simply about creating beautiful music. It's about creating an experience that allows people to slow down, reconnect with themselves and leave feeling lighter, calmer and more present.

Gemma.
